UNEP-WCMC Launch

The World Conservation Monitoring Centre (WCMC) was rebranded to UNEP-WCMC upon joining the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), merging both brands. This transition was marked by a successful press event and celebration with international VIPs to introduce the new joint brand and partnership. I launched an additional marketing campaign to secure sustainable funding for this charity from the corporate sector.

British Food Fair: Canterbury City Council

I created a marketing campaign to promote this event in Canterbury including, posters, leaflets, outdoor banners, street banners, lampost banners, radio and press adverts and event programme. The previous years' event had been a disaster and was cancelled at the last minute causing embarrassment to the Council and a loss of faith with the many retailers who had booked stalls. The marketing for this years' event was a hearts and minds exercise bringing back previous customers and stall holders as well as attracting many new people and increased revenue in to the city. The successful campaign was shortlisted by the Institute of Public Relations for a local government PR award.

Pulsar Instruments

Despite Pulsar Instruments being established over 50 years ago, it has remained a small 'start-up' like company (t/o £550k p.a). I worked in the company to help increase sales leads as well as improve perception of the brand and grow the business internationally. This involved several lead generation campaigns, a new website with ecommerce capability, and creating a strong brand image which ran consistently through all communication channels. The company has seen an increasing shift towards ecommerce as well as being able to grown direct sales leads for the team for close, today the turnover is on track to reach £1 million by 2025.

Cirrus Research

I worked in this B2B company as their Marketing Manager overseeing the marketing for their UK and international business as well as for their manufacturing facility. I joined just after the COVID-19 epidemic, to help grow their business around the world. Work included developing a stronger brand through the examination of their core customers needs and using of consistent imagery, fonts, colours and messages. 

My work covered the full range of marketing from digital channels (websites, ppc, social...), to traditional marketing (advertising, trade shows and sales support material) as well as targeted lead generation campaigns.

Westpac Bank (New Zealand)

I worked within Westpac Bank's communiction department on several one-off 'special communication projects'. These projects included:

  • a roadshow to introduce the Bank's new CEO to individual branches around the country; promotion of the visit, organising travel and venues and so on. 
  • organising their annual senior management event with over 1200 participants
  • writing articles for their new monthly staff newsletter as well as regular weekly essential communications to bank branches
  • working with the Banks' External Affairs Director to promotion their sponsored 'Business Journalism Award'
  • working with the CSO manager to establish the Bank's sustainability programme

INTERNAL COMMUNICATION | PR | SUSTAINABILITY

WPA Ltd (now Biochrom)

I worked within this company to help launch their newest laboratory product to cellular biologists and into schools. They were already well known in the educational sector for a number of simple to use spectrometers and colorimeters, but this new product was a small, simple, and low cost solution which could be used in a range of labs for quick assessments of the density of cells in solution for example. To sell this instrument it meant establishing WPA within a new target market. I set up a a cohort of local laboratory technicians who were given a free loan of the product in return for testing it and providing reviews we could use in subsequent marketing materials and the website.
